Naval ROTC, Florida A&M University
First established in 1972, NROTC Florida A&M University (NROTC FAMU) has graduated and commissioned hundreds of Navy and Marine Corps officers. NROTC FAMU was the fourth of six NROTC Units to be established on the campus of a historically black university, and we have since grown to serve both Florida State University and Tallahassee State College. We are proud to work together with all three institutions and the greater Tallahassee community to inspire, educate, and mentor our nation’s future leaders.

NROTC FAMU consists of students from FAMU, FSU, and TSC. Upon graduation, our students -- known as Midshipmen -- are commissioned into the U.S. Navy and U.S Marine Corps
Joining The Program
NROTC provides qualified students with various benefits throughout college and a guaranteed job afterwards. Individuals on NROTC Scholarships are enlisted into the Navy, or Marine Corps, Reserves and receive certain benefits not afforded to College Program students: who, in general, are participating in the NROTC program as civilians in the hopes of picking up a scholarship or Advanced Standing. Though NROTC provides financial incentives and the possibility of receiving a Bachelor's degree with little to no debt, the real value in the program lies in the opportunity to lead the world's finest Sailors and Marines. Being a Naval Officer is a great responsibility and one that should not be taken lightly; thus, the few who do have the privilege to do so, end up with priceless leadership and managerial exposure, marketable skill sets, and life experiences far beyond their civilian counterparts.

Additional Info:
- Applicants must not have 30 or more semester hours or 45 or more quarter hours of college credit upon application
- College Program students are usally those who either were not awarded the NROTC scholarship or are already college freshmen or sophomores.
- College Program students are required to compete for the NROTC scholarships and must be awarded one to continue through the program after their sophomore year

Benefits:
- Full tuition and fees
- A stipend for text books - $350/semester
- A subsistence allowance each academic month to spend freely; varies based off class
year
- Freshman - $250/month
- Sophomore - $300/month
- Junior - $350/month
- Senior - $400/month

- Four all-expense paid summer internships
- Freshman year in the program is free -- no strings attached.
- Guarenteed job upon graduation making approximately $60,000 - $90,000/year, with the potential to make upwards of $120,000/year after five years of service

- After sophomore year, the student incurs a military service obligation of five years upon graduation. Should a student drop the program prior to graduation, the scholarship must be repayed. APPLY
